In December 2017, La Salle announced a new partnership with Saxbys, offering a unique opportunity to its undergraduates: In Spring 2018, a Saxbys café will open on campus at Founders’ Hall that will be entirely operated and managed by La Salle University students as part of the Saxbys Experiential Learning Program (ELP).

“Our partnership with Saxbys provides students from any academic major an immersive, experiential learning experience in a real-world business operation,” said Colleen M. Hanycz, Ph.D., President. “Entrepreneurial opportunities like La Salle’s Saxbys café further prepare our students for life after La  Salle by helping them master traits like resilience, persistence, and the ability to pivot in unforeseen circumstances—skills that will help them succeed in their professional and personal lives.”

“Our Experiential Learning Program is an opportunity that impacts students, faculty, and the overall campus community,” said Saxbys Founder and CEO Nick Bayer. “Just as President Hanycz and her team have revolutionized the accessibility of a La Salle education via the tuition reset, this is yet another example of La Salle pioneering the future landscape of experiential education.”

Kyle McIntosh, a senior communication major specializing in public relations with a marketing minor, serves as the first Student Café Executive Officer (known as the Student CEO) of the café. He is responsible for making decisions on financial management, team development, community leadership, and the café’s overall operations.
