Tamika Jackson, Ph.D., NCC

Dr. Jackson (she/her) earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowie State University, her Master of Business Administration from Loyola University Maryland, and both her Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University. She completed her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at William & Mary in 2024. Dr. Jackson’s clinical training includes experience in college counseling, community mental health, couples and family counseling, and pastoral care. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and has extensive experience providing counseling, clinical supervision, and counselor training.

Dr. Jackson’s research focuses on spirituality and religion, culturally-informed counseling, counselor values, and the experiences of historically marginalized communities. She is particularly interested in how systems of power, culture, and faith shape both client experiences and counselor development. Her work has been published in Counselor Education and Supervision, Spirituality in Clinical Practice, Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, and other peer-reviewed journals.

In addition to her research, Dr. Jackson is committed to excellence in counselor education through experiential learning, the integration of clinical skill development and cultural humility, and liberation pedagogy. As an educator and program leader, she is passionate about preparing counselors who are both clinically effective and culturally integrative while fostering learning environments grounded in authenticity, collaboration, and critical reflection.
