Brother Gerard Molyneaux, F.S.C., Ph.D.

Professor Emeritus
Communication
Location:
Communication Center 221

Br. Gerry Molyneaux is no stranger to the La Salle campus, having been a staple at school for decades. After an extensive education, Br. Gerry was a professor at Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill., before returning to his alma mater in 1973 as professor and Assistant Chair of the English Department.

When the Communication Department broke from the English Department in 1985, Br. Gerry became the first Chair. In 2004, he stepped down from Chair to become the department’s Director of External and International Relations.

Br. Gerry’s love of film is shown through his published works: Charlie Chaplin’s ‘City Lights’ (1983), James Stewart: A Bio-Bibliography (1992), Gregory Peck: A Bio-Bibliography (1995), and John Sayles (2000).

In addition to his love of films, Br. Gerry also enjoys biking, music, and sports, particularly the ”Fightin’ Irish” of the University of Notre Dame. While not in the classroom teaching about film, Br. Gerry moderates the Sigma Phi Lambda fraternity and takes an active interest in communication alumni. He also enjoys helping recent graduates in their search for jobs.

The Brother Gerard Molyneaux Endowed Professorship ensures that Br. Gerry’s legacy of excellent teaching, mentorship, and experiential learning lives on in perpetuity and helps support our communication students and faculty.
