Explorer Athletics is going from strength to strength with the introduction of three new teams and the reintroduction of the baseball program.

The next step for the Athletics Department is a transformative master facilities plan to elevate the student-athlete experience and strengthen the 23 D1 teams on campus.

The Locker Room project will reclaim unused spaces on campus to create spaces and provide student-athletes with the resources they need to compete at the highest level, succeed in the classroom, and build life-long bonds through sport.

“We are focused on providing the best experience possible for our student-athletes,” said Ashwin Puri, Vice President for Athletics and Recreation at La Salle University. “We greatly value our Explorer student-athletes and are committed to ensuring they enjoy an exceptional experience throughout their time representing La Salle. These enhanced locker rooms and upgraded facilities will further elevate that experience, strengthen our ability to recruit and retain world-class student-athletes, and support their success both in competition and in the classroom.”

The facilities plan will provide spaces and locker rooms in three existing campus spaces:

  • John E. Glaser Arena will house the new basketball wing and the Olympic sports wing, which includes team spaces for acrobatics and tumbling, triathlon, and men’s and women’s aquatics.
  • Wister Hall will house the rugby, baseball, and field hockey teams, as well as the Sports Medicine Hub.
  • McCarthy Stadium will transform the stands to include locker rooms and social spaces for soccer, lacrosse, and cross country and track and field.

Those interested in supporting the locker room renovations have the opportunity to name a complete wing or an individual locker room.
