Kathleen Monforto, Ph.D.
Dr. Kathleen Monforto joined the faculty at La Salle University in August 2018. Her clinical expertise is pediatrics. Prior to coming to La Salle University, Dr. Monforto worked at a quaternary, not-for-profit, free-standing children’s hospital for 17 years. At this institution, Dr. Monforto worked in a variety of nursing roles such as a clinical nurse, charge nurse, preceptor, orientation coordinator, clinical nurse specialist, clinical nurse expert, education nurse specialist, and clinical instructor. Dr. Monforto’s doctoral dissertation stemmed from her nursing experience working the weekend incentive program.
Dr. Monforto’s passion for education was exemplified early in her career when she began precepting new nurses and teaching in the hospital-wide orientation classes, preceptor workshop, and nurse residency programs. Immediately prior to coming to La Salle University, Dr. Monforto was a nursing professional development specialist. She planned, implemented, and evaluated many educational programs, especially for nursing orientation, at the institution. Dr. Monforto ensured compliance with the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) educational design process and accreditation criteria as the primary nurse planner for continuing nursing education.
