Charles “Chip” Gallagher, Ph.D.

Charles A. “Chip” Gallagher, Ph.D., is a professor in the Sociology and Criminal Justice Department and a Senior Fellow at Yale University’s Urban Ethnography Project. His research focuses on social inequality, race relations and immigration, and he has published over 50 articles, reviews and books on these topics.

As a Fulbright Research Scholar at the University of Birmingham in the U.K. in 2016-17, Gallagher researched attitudes on immigration and Brexit. He has given more than sixty talks on these topics around the country, serves as an expert witness on civil rights cases dealing with allegations of institutional racism, and is a frequent media source on these issues.
