Tom Adams, Ph.D., CPA, CGMA

Assistant Professor of Accounting
Department of Accounting

Tom Adams joined the Accounting Department in the School of Business in 2019. Previously, he was an assistant professor at the University of Connecticut (2016-2019). He completed his Ph.D. in accounting at Temple University (2011-2016).

Tom Adams joined the Accounting Department in the School of Business in 2019. Previously, he was an assistant professor at the University of Connecticut. He completed his Ph.D. in accounting at Temple University and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at La Salle University. Dr. Adams has experience in accounting practice, working as a Senior Associate in the Audit Practice of KPMG and as a Senior Financial Analyst in the Investor Relations department of Teleflex Incorporated. He has taught Continuing Professional Education (CPE) courses for CPAs in the areas of financial reporting, auditing, and accounting analytics and currently serves as the subject matter expert and lead instructor for a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam prep company. His research has been published in Current Issues in Auditing, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Futures Markets, Review of Financial Economics, CPA Now – PICPA’s Blog for Pennsylvania CPAs, Estate Planning, Journal of Accountancy, Practical Tax Strategies, and the Tax Insider. Finally, Dr. Adams has experience teaching, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting I & II, Auditing & Assurance Services, Accounting Analytics, and Advanced Auditing/Financial Forensics.
