La Salle’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences recently received numerous grants, totally more than $140,000  They are:

• The nursing programs received a $24,000 grant from the McLean Contributionship for the purchase of a medicine dispense system.
• The undergraduate and graduate nursing programs received $18,568 and $82,577, respectively, for nursing student scholarships through the Independence Blue Cross Foundation’s Nurses for Tomorrow initiative.
• The Neighborhood Nursing Center received a $15,000 grant from the Green Tree Community Health Foundation.

Dan Rodriguez, Ph.D, associate professor of public health, recently had his paper, “Predictors of Tobacco Outlet Density Nationwide: a Geographic Analysis,” published in Tobacco Control, was was selected as an Editor’s Choice. To read the paper, click here

When La Salle University hosted its annual Community Health Fair in October, students and faculty from the University’s Nursing, Nutrition, and Public Health programs were on-hand to help provide information and screenings to area residents. Robin Brennan, DRPH, assistant professor of Public Health, recent presented The Social and Personal Construction of Motherhood at the Pennsylvania Public Health Association conference.

Joan Frizell, Ph.D., CRNP, ANP-B, associate professor of nursing, recently presented two session on Pathophysiology/Pharmacology updates at the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nursing Conference in Nashville, Tenn. The sessions were on Diabetes Mellitus and Pancreatitis and Drug Induced Pancreatitis.
