Br. Leonard has been teaching foreign languages in institutions of higher education since 1977 and joined the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at La Salle University in 2010.  Structuralist criticism has informed the articles he has published in several scholarly journals on an anonymous medieval French romance and baroque emblem literature as well as on works of Rabelais, La Fontaine, Corneille, Voltaire, Hugo, and Flaubert. He also translates documents written in French on the history of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. A recipient of six NEH research grants, Br. Leonard is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
