All students start in the fall semester and remain together as a cohort. This helps build strong peer connections and ensures that students are meeting the requirements to graduate on time.
Can the program be completed part-time?
No, the program cannot be completed part-time.
When are classes and clinics held?
This varies by semester but generally, students are in their field practicums in the day and classes in the evening. The first semester is a bit different. We also have a full-time summer semester.
All classes are held in-person on our campus in St. Benilde Tower. Our on-campus classes allow students to have access to hands-on learning in the classroom and in the inter-professional simulation lab. Students also gain experience in our on-campus speech-language-hearing clinic.
What does a typical schedule for a semester look like?
Generally, students are in the field gaining clinical hours in the day and return to campus in the evening for classes.
How long is each course?
Each course is a traditional length of 16 weeks.

Is there a practicum component?
Yes, students complete 4 required clinical practicums:
COSD 501 is in the first semester and students work with 1 client in our on-campus clinic.
COSD516 is in the spring of the first year. This is usually a pediatric placement in a school, outpatient, or private practice. Some students choose to be placed in our clinic.
COSD 521 is in a school to meet the requirements for PA school certification.
COSD 616 is a healthcare placement, usually with adults. It could take place in a hospital, nursing home, rehabilitation facility, or outpatient facility. Some students choose to be placed in our clinic.
Does the program require a final exam?
Students must take and pass a comprehensive exam and create a portfolio.
