There are 48 credits to complete the program and 16 courses. Broadly speaking, students can expect to spend about 10 hours per course.

A practicum is a hands-on learning experience in a real-world setting. In this program, students must complete 200 hours in a practicum placement. This may include community, non profit, health care, research, pharmaceutical and other related public health organizations. The applied practice experience is tailored to student interests. Faculty support students in identifying organizations of interest.
Yes, you may complete your practicum at your workplace however, your preceptor cannot be your work supervisor, and you cannot complete activities and deliverables that are part of your typical scope of work.
Currently, we do not offer additional concentrations however, students tailor their experiences through elective, practicum and capstone projects that reflect their interests and learning goals. Through these experiences students gain valuable knowledge and skills.
A capstone is a cumulative project that integrates content from courses taken in the program. Students complete a capstone project that integrates Public Health competencies gained throughout the program. Students may tailor the capstone research to their topics of interest. Students submit abstracts on their capstone research to the College of Physicians Section on Public Health’s annual Student Poster Session.
Yes, students complete the comprehensive exam during the fall semester of the Capstone course.
Yes, most students work while completing their degree.
Courses last the traditional semester length of 15 to 16 weeks. Summer courses are 11 weeks long. They are held in the evenings.
