Program Highlights

Teaching Comes First

CSD program faculty are all experienced clinicians and accomplished researchers, but they make their relationships with their students a priority. Faculty members are available for students in the classroom, in advising sessions, or in their offices, where there is always an open door policy.

Research is Key

The work of speech-language pathologists is grounded in evidence-based practice. All students are expected and encouraged to read, analyze, explain, and apply research to all of their work, and graduate students in particular must develop and write research proposals. The opportunity to engage in original research projects is available through faculty grant-funded studies and foundation scholarships.

Learning Through Practice

Hands-on learning experiences contribute to an overall education that is both wide in scope and deep in variety. Undergraduate students observe and reflect on assessment and therapeutic sessions in University-run clinics. Graduate students complete clinical practicum experiences that integrate academic knowledge into professional practice. CSD students get high marks from the agencies in which they work; in fact, several local agencies will only accept La Salle students for clinical placements.
