La Salle University’s Master’s Coordinated Program in Nutrition and Dietetics Practice is an ACEND-accredited Coordinated Program (CP) that combines graduate coursework and supervised practice education. The program awards a B.S. in Nutrition and an M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics Practice and includes a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised practice.

The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) requires a minimum of a graduate degree, completion of ACEND-accredited coursework, and completion of ACEND-accredited supervised practice for eligibility for the Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) examination. La Salle’s Coordinated Program integrates these educational and supervised-practice components.

State Licensure Disclosure

While state interpretations of statutes and regulations may vary, the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) states that it is its considered opinion that an ACEND-accredited Coordinated Program meets the educational requirements for dietetics licensure and certification in all states. Completion of an ACEND-accredited academic program alone does not qualify an individual for licensure or certification as a dietitian in any state.

Individuals must satisfy all applicable state requirements, which may include obtaining the RD/RDN credential, submitting an application, paying required fees, completing background checks, and meeting continuing education or other requirements.

The table below identifies whether La Salle University’s Master’s Coordinated Program meets the educational requirements for dietetics licensure or certification in each U.S. state.

Important Information for Students and Graduates

“Meets Educational Requirements” does not mean that a graduate automatically receives a state license or certification upon completion of the La Salle University program.

Graduates seeking to practice as registered dietitian nutritionists generally must:

  1. Complete La Salle University’s ACEND-accredited Coordinated Program.
  2. Earn the required graduate degree.
  3. Meet eligibility requirements established by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  4. Pass the CDR Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) examination.
  5. Apply for and obtain state licensure or certification when required by the state in which they intend to practice.
  6. Maintain any required state license/certification and the RD/RDN credential in accordance with applicable requirements.

State laws and regulations are subject to change. Students and graduates are responsible for reviewing the current requirements of the state in which they intend to practice. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics maintains state-by-state information concerning dietetics licensure and certification, but the applicable state licensing board or agency is the ultimate authority regarding eligibility.
