Stephen J. Lightcap, Ed.D., is the Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer at La Salle University. He joined President Allen’s Executive Cabinet in April 2023 upon his appointment at La Salle.

In his role, Lightcap oversees the university’s financial portfolio and institution’s operations functions. These include management of accounting and budgeting, financial reporting and planning, facilities, information technology, investments, real estate, and asset management.

Lightcap has more than three decades of professional and financial leadership experience in Philadelphia higher education. He joins La Salle University from another Philadelphia institution—the University of the Arts. There, and since 2011, he served as vice president of finance and administration. He served as a highly visible leader and strategic partner to U of Arts’ president and board of trustees in building a sustainable higher education enterprise. Previously, he has held senior leadership positions at Cabrini University, Chestnut Hill College, and Moore College of Art & Design.

Lightcap received his Ed.D. in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania. His dissertation focused on higher education leadership and inter-institutional collaboration. He also holds an MBA from Villanova University and a bachelor of science degree in commerce and engineering science from Drexel University.
