Dr. Laurie Colborn joined La Salle University in 2018 as the Clinical Nursing Coordinator for the La Salle Neighborhood Nursing Center, providing preventive health and wellness nursing services throughout the local community. In her role she expanded community collaborations and inter-professional community-based experiences for students from a variety of disciplines across the La Salle campus. In 2020, she transitioned to an adjunct faculty role teaching in the nursing program in a clinical capacity, while also teaching classes in the public health program. She joined as a full-time faculty member in the nursing department in 2021. In 2022, she worked with the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments to bring the Nurses Climate Challenge to the nursing program at La Salle, where she will be co-leading this initiative as it moves forward. As a nurse educator, her areas of focus have been on public health nursing and environmental health. Dr. Colborn’s research interests include understanding the intersection between the environment and health, the impacts of climate change on health, environmental equity, and the impact of social determinants on health and well-being. She enjoys collaborating with students to empower them to utilize and connect their classroom knowledge in their clinical experiences. Outside of teaching, Colborn is actively involved in several community groups, and animal rescues, additionally she maintains a work-life balance by competing locally and at the national level in triathlon, duathlon, and swim/run events.
