Program Overview
Competent, compassionate speech-language pathologists are in high demand to work with patients with communication and swallowing disorders in a wide variety of clinical settings. La Salle’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), formerly known as Speech-Language-Hearing Science, has a well-established tradition of preparing students with the knowledge base and clinical skills required for successful careers.
Through the high-quality academic program, excellent teaching, and variety of hands-on learning experiences offered at La Salle, undergraduate students are well-prepared for graduate studies at many prestigious institutions, including La Salle. Graduates of La Salle’s Master of Science program in speech-language pathology have an excellent track record in launching their careers—their employment rate is nearly 100 percent, and they have also achieved a near-perfect pass rate on the national certification exam for speech-language pathologists.
Program Options:
- a four-year CSD program that leads to a Bachelor of Science;
- an accelerated five-year program in which undergraduate studies lead directly into coursework toward a Master of Science in speech-language pathology;
- a standalone Master of Science program; and
- a PreSLP program for students who do not have undergraduate degrees in speech-language-hearing science or communication sciences and disorders and need to complete prerequisite coursework to enter the master’s degree program.
