    1. Overview
    2. What to Expect in Your First Meeting With Your Student Success Coach

Your first coaching session will focus on clarifying the role of the coach in supporting your success at La Salle.  Your Student Success Coach will want to understand your unique goals and aspirations for your time in college. The meeting will be an opportunity for you and your coach to get acquainted and to learn things that may be important to the success of your relationship. You should expect questions about your past experiences with school as well as your goals and motivations for enrolling in college. Your coach can be one of the most useful resources and connections to the university. Be open and honest about your fears, concerns and challenges and what you are excited about. This will help you both to build trust and begin on the path of a successful semester.

This initial meeting may also serve as a planning session. Expect to review your course schedule; together, you will determine how often you will meet and what you need for a strong start.  Depending on your needs, your coach may recommend other resources or services on campus.

Your experience with your student success coaches can be a journey of self discovery and personal growth as you transition to your life as a college student. It will take time for the relationship to develop and insights to materialize. Be patient with yourself and your coach; together you may achieve your goals and discover new things along the way.
