The Explorer Shadow program is a one-day job shadowing experience that allows La Salle students to observe a professional and get a behind-the-scenes look at a specific job or company. Alumni are encouraged to register to host a student and share their career experience.
As an alumnae, you can help La Salle students clarify their career goals by hosting students in your workplace for a day to observe, participate, and learn about your industry. Being a host presents the opportunity to mentor the next generation of professionals while also expanding your organization’s brand awareness.
There are generally three types of students who participate in the Explorer Shadow Program:
Students who are undecided about their career goals and participate as a means of exploring. They will apply for your shadow because it sounds interesting to them. This student is looking for basic knowledge about your industry or career.
Students who are clarifying several options that they have identified. They have some knowledge about your field. They are looking to you for a clearer sense of the “career realities” so they can make a decision.
Students who have decided they want to enter your field. This student hopes to deepen their knowledge and learn about how people enter and advance in your field.
