Why do you want to run for the Alumni Board of Directors?
As my children grow up, and I move from taking them to La Salle soccer and basketball games on weekends to having more time to devote to my own interests and hobbies, I am looking to give back to the University that has provided me so much through the years. I would love to be able to assist in the guidance from the alumni to move the university forward in the future by whatever means possible. During my time at La Salle, I was able to utilize the knowledge and assistance of alumni, whether they were family members, friends, or future co-workers, to grow myself, to increase my own knowledge, and to build a network for my future. We were always told to “Never Stop Exploring.” While continuing to explore, at this time in my life, it is time to help the younger generation “Be Known For More.”
What activities were you involved in as a student?
How have you remained active or engaged with La Salle as an alum since graduation?
I have remained an ambassador for La Salle University by attending numerous events during the years following my graduation, financially and socially supporting different groups within the University, and promoting the University to a younger generation by discussing the University with high school aged students.
Is there any other information you would like to share?
La Salle University has had a long-standing presence in my family, going back to my grandfather, John Cush ’52, who came back from World War II and with the help of the GI Bill became the first member of his family to graduate from college. He instilled in me and my brothers the importance of getting an education and using that education to help better the community around us. The importance of an education is ever present in the current society we live in, and I am hoping through the alumni board I am able to reach out to those in the community around me and promote the importance of the University during this important time.
