La Salle University offers Master of Arts degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Clinical Counseling, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology—Management and Human Resources:
M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT)
La Salle's COAMFTE-accredited Marriage and Family degree trains students to evaluate and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders and a wide array of relationship issues within the context of the individual and/or the family system. It prepares students for licensed employment in a variety of clinical settings including private practice. Students may select a minor in Professional Clinical Counseling, Addictions Counseling, or Industrial Organizational Counseling and Consulting.
M.A. in Professional Clinical Counseling (PCC)
The M.A. in Professional Clinical Counseling grounds students in counseling theory, and provides training in assessment and treatment to prepare students to become licensed professional counselors in mental health and related settings. Education and training is oriented toward the adoption of a client-centered, rather than an illness-centered approach. Students may choose to minor in Marriage and Family Therapy, Addictions Counseling, or Industrial Organizational Counseling and Consulting.
M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Management and Human Resources
This program offers a master's degree in I/O Management and Human Resources, and provides a foundation in counseling and interpersonal skills for students preparing for administrative positions that do not require licensure.
Students can attend on either a full-time, an accelerated full-time, or a part-time basis for the Marriage and Family Therapy Program, or the Professional Clinical Counseling Program. The I/O Management and Human Resources is only offered part-time. Students are able to take courses at any of La Salle's three campuses: Main Campus in Philadelphia, PA; Bucks County Center in Newtown, PA; or at the Montgomery County Center in Plymouth Meeting, PA. La Salle offers an Accelerated Full Time Weekend Option for the MFT and PCC degrees at the Montgomery Campus.La Salle's M.A. degrees provide an excellent background for students preparing for doctoral study.
