Profile
Huntly Collins is a New England native who grew up in Oregon, and has been an assistant professor of communication at La Salle since 2006. Before joining the La Salle faculty, she was an award-winning reporter at The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Oregonian of Portland, OR. She studied labor economics at Harvard as a Nieman Fellow; conducted a nationwide study of gifted children as a Ford Fellow in Educational Journalism; and mentored reporters covering the AIDS epidemic in South Africa as a Kaiser Teaching Fellow based in Johannesburg, SA. She was director of science communication for the AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition in New York and has also worked in communication for other non-profit organizations. She is a longtime resident of Philadelphia’s Mount Airy neighborhood and member of the First United Methodist Church of Germantown.
