A Brief Guide to Paperwork needed to start VA Benefits

  1. Chapter 33 (Post – 9/11 GI Bill®)Important First Step: The Post 9/11 GI Bill® website now offers a step-by-step guide on what to consider and how to apply (http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/apply.asp), including an estimator to help eligible individuals determine how much money they are eligible for (http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/comparison_tool.asp). Please note the Step-by-Step Guide is only a guide. Individuals considering on applying for the Post 9/11 GI Bill® should consider all factors that impact their particular situation before making the irrevocable decision.   For the entire list of eligibility requirements for this chapter, please visit http://benefits.va.gov/gibill/Transfer of Chapter 33 Entitlement (Department of Defense Benefit):
Service members desiring to transfer Post-9/11 GI Bill® entitlement should be directed to the GI Bill® Web site at http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/docs/pamphlets/ch33_pamphlet.pdf and the Department of Defense web site at http://www.defense.gov/home/features/2009/0409_gibill/.
